Our annual girls trip – lifelong Alaskans who’ve never been to Kennecott.  Finally here and fascinated by the history and amazing scenery.  Hiked to Bonanza Mine, trekked on Root Glacier, biked to McCarthy and explored the glacier’s toe.  Saw 3 black bears and toured the mine and town.  Excellent.  Lunch at the lodge with the porch view was delightful.  Thoroughly enjoyed the cottage ambiance.  So nice to come back from a grungy hike to shower and be cozy in comfort.”  The Wilderness Women  July/August 2017
